Fishermen & Farmers
Fishermen worked really hard all year round and would get paid an all right price. They weren't the richest people in Japan but they stayed strong. Since Japan was an archipelago (a group of islands) that consisted of four main islands, there was plenty of water to fish. Japan was located in the pacific ocean. Fishing back then is not like today where you grab a fishing rod and hope for the best. Fishing needed skill and patience by using nets. They would find the perfect spot then fish there for six to seven hours a day.
Farmers were not the best paid people in Japan. They would go out one day and plant some seeds, and when they have done that they would harvest the rice that has already grown. Then the next time the farmer comes back, they would plant seeds where he last harvested and harvest where he last planted, since they would be ready.
